Recently The Coca-Cola Company was succesfull in its bid to close the MY Coke Fest blog MyCoke.co.za by properly enforcing its intellectual property rights. Herman Mason (posting on the popular Marklives.com) has provoked some revealing commentary on the effectiveness of this action illustrating the wider considerations for inhouse Counsel looking after big brands. Feedback from the INTA roundtable held this week on Traditional Knowledge has been very good. The event was well organised by Spoor & Fisher and most came away with more questions than answers - a sign of a thought provoking discussion. Will firms will now start to promote themselves as traditional knowledge specialists? ARIPO have a dedicated section on TK.

News from ARIPO is that The Second edition of the Masters Degree in Intellectual Property (MIP) will be launched on May 4, 2009. The Program shall be offered for the duration of twelve (12) months, from May 4, 2009 to April 30, 2010 - you can consider the application here.
