Fake IPL Tickets

A few weeks ago this blog reported that the absence of a discussion over RSA's ability to protect IP was re-assuringly noteworthy in IPL's decision to host the tournament in RSA (see here). The attempt by K B J Asset Holdings to apply to register and misappropriate the trade mark rights in the team names (reported here) and the headline of yesterday's Star (see right) are stark reminders that opportunists exist. The Star headline is a particularly chilling reminder of the life threatening risks associated with counterfeiting (in this case counterfeit tickets causing dangerous overcrowding at the Wanderers stadium).
