Africa and counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the time of COVID-19

Counterfeit and substandard medications and critical medical supplies are flooding the world market due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In developing countries, including African countries, where regulators and producers are often less active, the challenge to counter fake pharmaceuticals is particularly high. Marius Schneider and Nora Ho Tu Nam have recently contributed a Current Intelligence article ‘Africa and counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the times of COVID-19’ to the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice. The article is accessible freely here:

In fact, this free-access article forms part of the numerous content made available by Oxford University Press (OUP) as part of its response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As a signatory on the Wellcome Trust statement pledging to share research findings and data rapidly and openly, OUP has made available free of charge more than 2800 journal articles, handbooks, monograph books and chapters.
