According to an email from Mr. Armand CIAMALA the "Parliament of Rwanda has adopted a new Industrial Property Act. A new structure named Rwanda Development Board has been set up to take over from the Ministry of Industrial and be in charge of Registration of Industrial Property rights. The Rwanda Development Board is already operating but still according to the former legislation as the new one is still to be published in the official gazette and the Ministry is still drafting the Regulations. Main changes in regards with trademarks are that registration is valid for ten years indefinitely renewable and the introduction of advertising and opposition proceedings." Afro-IP looks forward to further updates.
