Nigeria upbeat about suppression of replicating plants

The Vanguard, Nigeria, has reported that Adebambo Adewopo, Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), remains remarkably upbeat about the continued battle against IP pirates, whom he describes as "economic saboteurs who should be treated as criminals". IP infringement in Africa's most populous country is assessed as inflicting losses of some N 10 billion a year. However, Nigeria has commenced the full implementation of the Optic Disc Plant Regulation regime, starting in Lagos where over 90 per cent of the Optic Disc plants are located. Nigeria hosts some 18 DVD and CD replication plants, while the entire Southern African region has only two such plants.
