The East African Standard reports that a Kenyan drug firm, Universal Corporation, is to start producing generic anti-retroviral drugs. The report indicates that the firm is ready to start production once it finalizes negotiations with global health bodies who will be buying the bulk of the the drugs as the local market is very small. The firm is banking on commitment by WHO, Global Fund , the government and non-governmental organisations who are the major supplies of the drugs to the HIV /AIDS patients.
